IQ Chamber™

The IQ Chamber™ is an Inert Quadrate & Ideal Quick test chamber unit. The chambers are unique, in the fact that each test unit of 10 chambers is attached to a stiff plastic cover with 10 compartments corresponding to each of the 10 chambers on the tape. The cover makes it possible to reattach the tape to the cover after filling the chambers with allergen preparations.

This important feature facilitates and reduces significantly the time of test application because the nurse or assistant can prepare many test units in advance. The prepared unit should be stored in a plastic bag in a refrigerator and may be kept for a few days. Use Chemotechnique’s Application Device for easy applications of the test substances. This device is specially designed for the IQ Chamber™ in making preparation of the test units time saving and cost efficient.

  • The IQ Chamber™ is made of additive free polyethylene plastic
  • The IQ Chamber™ are supplied in units of 10 chambers (in 2 rows of 5 chambers/row) on a hypoallergenic non woven adhesive tape.
  • The tape with the chambers is protected by a stiff plastic cover with 10 compartments that correspond to the chambers on the tape.
  • The volume of the chamber is 65 µl and the inside area of the chamber is 9x9 mm (81mm 2 ).
  • The distance between the chambers is 12 mm in the row and 20 mm between the rows.
  • The width of the tape is 68 mm and the length is 142 mm.

IQ Chambers™ are delivered cardboard boxes containing 100 units per box.

IQ Chambers™ are available worldwide through the extensive network of Chemotechnique Diagnostics agents already distributing the Chemotechnique patch test allergens.

The basic requirements for a patch test chamber involves using an inert material applied to a hypoallergenic tape providing good occlusion and fixation of the test unit to the skin. The material of the IQ Chamber™ is Inert additive free polyethylene plastic and the opening of the chamber is square to make it easier to differentiate between allergic and irritant reactions. Undesired side effects in the form of allergic reactions to the test unit itself 1 - 15 are avoided due to the chemical stability of the polyethylene plastic.

The effect of reactive test substances on the test chamber which may result in secondary toxic reactions during the patch test16 - 21, 24, is also avoided due to polyethylenes chemical resistance to these types of substances. By using inert plastic material such as polyethylene, the risk of inactivation, modification and absorbtion of the allergen during contact with the surface of the test chamber is avoided 22 - 23, 26. Considering these facts, the importance and advantages of using chambers made of inert plastic material has been pointed out. 24, 25
